Kate Winslet is one of the most famous actresses in the world, however Kate is also one of the most outspoken actresses as well. Ask her a question and home girl will not beat around the bushs our kind of girl! In the June issue of Marie Claires UK magazine, Kate dishes on life growing up as a chubby kid, aging and losing her first love. Check out some of the highlights of the interview below.
ON GETTING OLD AND WRINKLY:
I don’t mind the way I’m ageing. I think I look my age, and that’s fine. I don’t think I look younger than 33 and I don’t think I look particularly older than 33. I think I’m sort of holding it together.
ON BEING HER IN HER EARLY CAREER:
Things happened in quick succession between the ages of 19 and 22. No wonder I blew up like a balloon. Remember those days? I think it was the Golden Globe year for Titanic, and I was on a red carpet and somebody showed me a picture and I was like, “Fuck, I was enormous.” I don’t particularly remember sitting at home crying and eating endless packets of HobNobs. I don’t remember doing that at all. Honestly, I think it was a stress thing or something. I don’t know.
ON LOSING HER FIRST LOVE:
Its just awful. And I am the age now that he was when he died, so its a big shock. If you lose somebody like that, you never really get over it; you just learn to manage it and live with it. Im not particularly religious or spiritual, but I do feel him around a little bit, going, re all right. Dont worry. Which is amazing.
ON HER NAKEDNESS IN THE READER:
I do think it’s important for young women to know that magazine covers are retouched. People don’t really look like that. In films I might look glamorous, but I’ve been in hair and make-up for two hours; someone’s been lighting a scene for three hours. With the nudity in The Reader, for example, even I was like, “Damn, I look good.” And that was the lighting – it was a bit of body make-up. I don’t believe in pretending those things don’t go on.
ON CRAVING THAT OSCAR WIN:
There’s nothing bloody wrong with wanting it at all. And anyone who says, Oh, I don’t know, oh, I’m on the fence… it’s absolute crap. Of course they want it, deep down. Of course they do.

This video is an extreme example and incredibly cheesy but it gets the point across fairly well. It's hard to define when but "fluff" pieces made their way to the front pages and were allowed to take up huge segments on our nightly news. It's almost comical but it might be the right move for news outlets to put the emphasis on stories about these celebrities because this is what people are actually interested in. This is of course speculation and I could be wrong but I think if faced with the choice of watching a news story about the economy or conflict in the middle east people would almost always opt for the piece about celebrities. I suppose i'm guilty of this, but I generally try to avoid any sort of televised news and usually get most of my news from the BBC (who even has an entertainment section on their website).
I found a short article/blog written by a woman who is a writer and pastor in Ghana and it really made me think about what it would be like to be part of these issues that are often skimmed over. She writes: "I knew I was back in America when I turned on the news.
It was Sunday morning. While on a trip to Africa, I had followed each day the growing tension between the United States and Iran, so I switched on the TODAY show at 8am to see if anything important had happened during the night.
The first item of news was from Africa.
It wasn't news of Darfur where radical Islamists daily massacre people while their government turns a blind eye. It wasn't news of the AIDS epidemic which has affected Africa more than any other continent. It wasn't news from the Congo where a civil war has left more dead than in Europe during World War I.
It wasn't news from Zimbabwe which now has the highest rate of inflation in the world (over 1000%) and the lowest life expectancy (37 for men, 34 for women). But the news was highlighting a country close to ZimbabweNamibia, where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had decided their first child should be born!"

To have things put into perspective like that makes you feel really awful about not always paying attention to the news that is important. We've discussed things like this in class in the context of political issues and I know that if something is happening on the other side of the world and isn't really in my own back yard it's harder to focus on because 9 times out of 10 it's not going to effect me. I try to stay as informed as possible even on things that aren't going to directly effect me but sometimes it's difficult. However as difficult as it is do we really need things like this.

Celebrities are meant to be fashionable, so their hairstyles are definitely going to be something that will be in limelight for a long time. There are many sites which have some latest images of cool celebrity haircuts that you can look at. You can of course try them yourself and look nothing less than a celebrity!
More than the hairstyles its the right kind of attitude that makes all the difference. If you can carry yourself well, have class and poise, then no matter what you do to your hair, its going to look good on you. Thats the trick of the trade with most of the celebrities. A celebrity is noted of by his or her style quotient; it could be their mannerism or their hair style.
Whats makes a celebrity haircut so popular? Its a result of continued invention and recreation of new formulas. This is true for any aspect of the celebritys life; whether its the method of acting or their haircuts, it needs to evolve. Continued evolution makes a celebrity noticeable.
Even if it means to have a messed-up look or a funky hair color, the right kind of attitude will put it off. Its not enough to get a celebrity haircut, its important to maintain it. Most of the celebrity haircuts are high in maintenance and require a lot of care in terms of conditioning and upkeep.
You dont just get celebrity haircuts with a pair of scissors. There are sprays, gels and chemicals involved to make that haircut look perfect. So maintaining and conditioning your hairstyle is equally important. There are special types of conditioners available as per hair type, so make sure you know whats best for your hair type so that you can maintain the celebrity haircut youve just had.

Javier Bardem I hope you've been watching vampire drama (no not Buffy) True Blood on HBO! Ryan Kwanten is the lead guy Jason and other guys that have come to my attention are Sam Trammell as Sam Merlotte and the very cute Stephen Moyer who plays Bill Compton. All three have shown some skin and the nudity is becoming a trade mark for the show. Stay tuned for some naked butts and full frontal nudity my gay friends. To cap this update (yes I do seem to be doing a lot of updates this month) I wanted to add a feature on the amazing James Franco. James has done some nude scenes, but expect to see a lot more from him in the Movie Milk by Gus Van Sant. I have heard that he does a number of nude (possible sex) scenes with lead actor Sean Penn (playing Harvey Milk a gay politician) and there is something about prosthetic penises and lots of man on man snogging, which also involves Diego Luna. Josh Brolin is also in the film but he is not playing a gay character, but rather someone (I think) who is not too fond of them. Still I am looking forward to seeing Josh play George Bush in Oliver Stone's W.

The press release is here! Indigo celebrated a decade of achievement last Sunday as you know The celebration was part of a by-invitation-only lavish Sunday Brunch at Indigo, which was attended by the crème de la crème of Mumbai.
The celebrations saw Indigo’s patrons, Bollywood biggies, fashion designers, models and socialites having a blast. What made the event even more special was the fact that many patrons (some of whom no longer live in Mumbai) flew down from across the country to celebrate this milestone.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rahul Akerkar, Managing Director, deGustibus Hospitality Pvt. Ltd, said “Indigo opened its doors to the public in April 1999 as a food-centric, uncompromising, fine-dining establishment in the heart of Bombay, Colaba district. The vision for Indigo from day one was to embrace three basic principles of excellent food, warm hospitality and superior levels of service. Our sole aim was to give Indian’s and food-lovers all over the world a chance to experience the best of what modern India has to offer. Over the years, we have evolved as the seasons change and the creative fare has been balanced and augmented by one of the best wine lists in India with an exemplary service team.”
Mrs. Malini Akerkar, Director – Marketing Brand Development, deGustibus Hospitality Pvt. Ltd added, “Indigo explored a regeneration of Indian flavor; taking from its past but giving it a contemporary twist. Very few realized at the time, that the birth of our restaurant would set in motion a revolution and establish a benchmark in fine-dining in India. We have encouraged and fostered the growth of experiential Euro-Asian cuisine and superlative hospitality. Indigo was a labor of love for Rahul and me. Today, ten years later, we are very proud to be celebrating our 10th anniversary as pioneers of the fine-dining boutique experience.”
FYI deGustibus Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. was established in early 1996 by principals, Rahul Malini Akerkar, to develop and run high quality restaurants, hotels and FB related activities. deGustibus Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. is the parent company of Indigo and Indigo Delicatessen located at Colaba, Mumbai and Indigo Cafe in Andheri. From the Latin conjoin, degustibus - to mean an ‘entity of taste,’ the company was founded to espouse just five basic ingredients of a tested winning recipe: innovation, great food, warm hospitality; attention to detail, and customers who revel in these.
Cool eh.

Celebrity Big Brother 6 also sees the entrance of Ulrika Jonnson as a housemate. The Scandinavian weathergirl-turned-celebrity has had a checkered tabloid history, but is always game for a laugh, as her captain status on UK spoof gameshow Shooting Stars is testament to. The in-joke throughout the series has been Ulrikas fondness for football players, with such comments as is there a football player you havent slept with? amongst many others, with Ulrka taking it all in good spirits, and giving as good as she gets.
Shes also happy to get a bit cheeky with paparazzi photographers, and the picture below is a somewhat literal example - she was on her way to a magazines 4th birthday party, and decided itd be to recreate the famous tennis poster shot.
